Vista Gardens: Into the Future

Vista Gardens is buzzing with excitement as we step into a new era under the inspiring leadership of Baqi Kopelman. Building on the solid foundation established by John Albers and Santica Marcovina and our dedicated Board of Directors, Vista Gardens is embracing a future full of growth, innovation, and deeper community connections.

The newly developed strategic plan, crafted and approved in 2024, marks a significant turning point for the gardens. This plan is a roadmap to making Vista Gardens a thriving hub of environmental education and sustainable gardening. The plan focuses on several key areas: financial sustainability, brand enhancement, community engagement, and educational expansion. By diversifying revenue streams through fundraising campaigns, workshops, and events, Vista Gardens is positioning itself to thrive in the years ahead.

Under Baqi’s leadership, the vision is coming to life. His experience in nonprofit leadership and his creative approach to problem-solving are transforming Vista Gardens. Baqi’s ability to connect with audiences, forge partnerships with local organizations like the Garden Conservancy Network and BKAT Cable Access Channel, and collaborate with area nurseries and botanical gardens is already making a tangible impact. Our enhanced digital presence, including a newly launched website, is driving greater visibility and engagement, while initiatives such as more open days, expanded tours, and a diverse range of workshops are well underway.

The community’s response has been overwhelmingly positive. Our volunteers are energized by these changes, and local business leaders are eager to support and collaborate with us in new and exciting ways. Vista Gardens is set to flourish as a beacon of sustainability, education, and community engagement, ensuring a vibrant future for the gardens and the mission they serve.
