As both the Executive Director of Vista Gardens and a lifelong photographer, I’ve found early November to be one of the most magical times to capture the beauty of this remarkable space. The fall colors here are nothing short of breathtaking—vibrant golds, fiery reds, and deep oranges weave through the landscape, creating a tapestry of light and texture that shifts with every passing hour. This gallery reflects my journey through the gardens on one particularly beautiful day. These photographs share the colors, textures and structure and the essence of a place where nature and intentional design work in harmony.
Walking through Vista Gardens in November is an experience of contrasts and revelations. The textures of bark and branches frame the brilliance of fall foliage, while the sweeping views from our hillside perch bring the Kitsap Peninsula’s rolling landscape into sharp focus. From the delicate diamonds of raindrops on a conifer branch to the grandeur of vista views, the interplay of light and color draws you into a world alive with detail. Each turn of the path offers something new to discover—a hidden vignette of crimson leaves, a golden glow illuminating the understory. These are the moments I aim to capture and share, a celebration of the season’s ephemeral beauty.
Nature’s beauty is fleeting, and can serve as a reminder of what we must preserve. At Vista Gardens, we are committed to protecting and enhancing green spaces so that their colors, textures, and vitality can inspire future generations to learn about sustainable gardening and the essential need to preserve diversity in our natural environments. As you scroll through this gallery, I hope you feel the pull of the land—the way it connects us to the cycles of life and our responsibility to nurture it.
Our mission at Vista Gardens is to educate and inspire others to create and conserve sustainable green spaces, and I invite you to join us in this effort. Together, we can ensure that places like this continue to thrive, enriching our lives and our world.
